A Flight Instructor since 1973, Bill Hays opened ATD in 1996. The company began small with Bill as the only instructor in his own Piper Cherokee 140. His first move toward growth came when he purchased a PCATD flight simulator and began specializing in instrument training.
In March of 2002, ATD went through a major expansion. At this time, there was the arrival of more airplanes including a Piper Seminole twin engine aircraft, the completion of a new, larger office, as well as the addition of the pilot briefing room, a CATS written testing center, a full time General Manager, and several Flight Instructors.
In April of 2005 ATD expanded even more, adding several more airplanes to the fleet, adding a ground school classroom and becoming an FAA approved 141 Flight School.
In April of 2006, ATD obtained it's 135 charter certificate to fly charter in a 2004 Citation Bravo.
In December of 2008, ATD added a King Air to it's charter fleet and soon, in early 2009, ATD will be adding a Cessna 340 to the charter fleet.
Currently, ATD has 10 Flight Instructors who meet the high standards that Bill requires. If you decide to check out ATD for your training, you will find that a sense of humor and a willingness to work well together is a prerequisite for the instructors. Your learning and flying experience is guaranteed to be fun!
Currently, ATD also operates 7 airplanes, 2 PCATD simulators, a full-visual flight training device, and offers charter in the following aircraft: Citation Bravo, King Air C90, and a Cessna 340. Quotes are available upon request!
ATD continues to grow and looks forward to a bright future as Kansas City's most comprehensive flight training facility.
